Some people plan their whole week around the court. For them the best birthday cake is one that shows the game: a racket, a ball, a piece of court and a score that means something, such as the result of the last match or simply the age written as a score.

A tennis cake and a padel cake look a little different. A tennis racket has strings and a long oval head, and the court is often green or blue. A padel racket is solid with holes, and the court has glass walls, which can be suggested with lines on the top of the cake. Tell us which sport the birthday person plays, and we will get the details right.

The same theme works for more than birthdays: a club party after a tournament, a thank-⁠you for a coach, a team win or a farewell for a playing partner who is leaving the island. How to Plan a Tennis or Padel Cake

  1. Start With the Racket

    The racket is the symbol everyone recognizes. Send a photo of the player’s own racket if you can: its colors and pattern make the cake personal. On the cake it can lie on top as decoration, stand up as a topper or be drawn on the side, depending on the size you choose.
