For a child who builds worlds after school, the right game on the cake says you were paying attention. Minecraft and Roblox are the two themes we are asked for most.

A gaming cake is a very personal choice, because every player has a favorite. One child wants blocky grass and a TNT block, another wants their avatar’s face, a teenager wants a hero from the game everyone at school is playing. For a grown-⁠up gamer a calmer version works better: a pixel heart, the age as a level or a joke only other players will get.

Our designs are inspired by the games, and each one is agreed with you before we start. We take the colors, the shapes and the mood of the game world and combine them with the name and age of the birthday person. A character can be piped in cream, printed on sugar paper or made as a topper, and on a bigger cake these can be combined.

How to Plan a Gaming Cake

A few questions to ask before you send us the screenshot.

  1. Pick One Game, One Hero

    A cake looks strongest when it tells one story. Choose one game and one or two characters, and let the colors of that world lead the design. Two characters from different games fit better on a Medium or Large cake; on a Small bento we suggest one, and the other can go on cupcakes.

  2. Shape or Decoration

    Some games have a shape that works as the cake itself: the square TNT block is one we make often. Others are better shown as decoration on a round cake: pixel squares on the sides, a character on top, the name in blocky letters. Tell us how many guests will eat it, and we will tell you which option suits the portion count.

  3. The Player Name and the Level

    Gamers love details from their own game. The age can become a level or a score, and the name can be the real one or a gamer tag. Short words work best: a name plus “Level 10” reads clearly, while a long phrase makes the letters too small.

  4. Take the Toppers Off First

    Game figures often sit on the cake as toppers on supports, and those are not edible. We tell you which parts they are. Take them off before the cake is cut, and at a children’s party do it before the plates are passed around.

Do you make Minecraft and Roblox cakes?

Yes. Minecraft and Roblox are the themes ordered most: block-⁠world cakes with pixel grass and figures, square TNT block cakes and avatar faces. You can see examples in the gallery above.

Will the character look exactly like in the game?

We aim for the colors, shapes and feeling of the character, adapted to cake. The smaller the cake, the simpler the details, so we tell you in advance how close it will look for the size you choose.

Can you make a gaming cake for an adult?

Yes. For an adult we suggest a calmer design, such as a pixel drawing, the age written as a level or a score, a favorite symbol or a short joke on a bento cake. Tell us the game and the sense of humor, and we will suggest a design.

Which parts of the cake are not edible?

Some toppers and the supports that hold them are not edible. We tell you exactly which ones, and they have to come off before the cake is sliced.

How long does it take to prepare a cake?
